TRAVEL GUIDELINES
All travellers before flying to Kathmandu need to submit their pre-arrival details on NEPALIPORT DEPART OF IMMIGRATION.
A computer generated PDF will be sent to your email upon successful application and submission of your PRE-ARRIVAL visa.
On arrival in Kathmandu you need show the PDF document and pay the corresponding visa fee in US Dollars only. Note that there is no ATM and VISA card machine at the Immigration Desk on arrival.
Detailed info on the on-arrival visa fees can be found on the Government of Nepal Department of Immigration.

VISA
A valid passport is required to enter Nepal. You will need either apply for Visa on Arrival or contact the Embassy (or High Commission) of Nepal in your own country to obtain your visa before your departure dates.

Travel Insurance
It is compulsory to have comprehensive travel insurance throughout your whole trip in Nepal. Please ensure you keep all relevant documentation throughout your whole trip. Note I will require a copy of these documents before your trip.
CURRENCY
The country currency is the Nepali Rupee. There are ATM facilities at the airport and throughout Nepal where one can withdraw cash using a credit card or a bankcard. Major currencies such as US dollars and Euros are easy to change. Remember, you must present your passport whenever you change currency. You can check the exchange rate for your currency on a website such as www.xe.com.
FOOD + WATER
Do not drink any water from taps unless you know it has been filtered with a very good water filter as one can become very ill from drinking contaminated water. You can buy sealed bottled water in the supermarkets or general stores; ensure to check the seal on the bottle cap. Nepal is a place of amazing delicacies and taste! There are plenty of good restaurants with a variety of foods for both Western oriented minds, as well for those who like to eat local Nepali food.
DRESS CODE AND SIM CARD
Culturally in Nepal it is essential to dress modestly, especially in Temples and when visiting holy cities.
You can purchase a SIM card with mobile internet at the Airport itself or anywhere within Kathmandu.

Kathmandu is very well connected with many direct flights. You can find the best prices on well known sites such as Momondo & Skyscanner.
You will need to arrive in Kathmandu by midday or by latest early afternoon on the starting date.

General Tips
- Pack light! Rucksack & Backpack 60L is recommended. No suitcases pleases.
- You will definitely need a good quality shoe with ankle support for this trip as there's lots of walks and hikes in the forest. This is very important !! I recommend SALOMON brand.
- Keep in mind to bring some warm clothing. Although it can be sunny in the daytime with temperatures around 19-26 degrees Celsius, the temperature can drop to around 7-10 degrees Celsius at night in the mountains.
- Do bring earplugs to allow you to get a good night’s sleep.
- Bring a flashlight.
- Bring you ATM visa/mastercards. Ensure you have sufficient funds.
- Shoes are not to be worn inside temples or Ashrams. Generally shoes are not worn inside most buildings. Footwear is usually left outside at the entrance of the building.
- Don't look into the eyes of monkeys and don't feed them as they may take your whole bag away!
